Biography
Richard Nyiawung is an Interdisciplinary Scientist and the Policy and Research Lead for the Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASDEV), NGO, Cameroon. He holds an MA in Environmental Policy from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Buea, Cameroon. Richard is fluent in English and French, with experience in agricultural sciences and natural resources management and governance. He has more than eight years of research and work experience on the governance and sociopolitical dimensions of natural resources management and resource-dependent livelihood challenges in Africa and beyond. He has several scientific publications and science communication on aspects of power dynamics and the inclusiveness of marginalised populations in decision-making and policy formulation processes. Richard has received several awards and scholarships to support his research in Cameroon, The Gambia, Liberia, India, Namibia, Ghana, and Canada. He is the recipient of the prestigious African Leaders of Tomorrow (ALT) Scholarship sponsored by Global Affairs Canada and the Mastercard Foundation in commemoration of the late Nelson Mandela. Richard loves organising and coaching recreational soccer, volleyball, and basketball.
