Sophie Adhiambo works at Namati as the Program Associate for the Community Land Protection Program. Sophie is a lawyer, and their core work involves working with communities to advocate for their land rights and strengthen their customary land tenure systems – through registration of their community land. Sophie is passionate about empowering communities (especially women and the youth) and equipping them with the law to ensure that they actively participate and contribute to matters pertaining to their land and natural resources. Sophie’s hope is that through the work that they do they will be able to influence policies and laws at national, regional and international levels through evidence based research – on matters that directly affect access, use and ownership of land and natural resources in the different tenure systems.
