Monique Umutoni is a professional in water resources management with a background in agriculture sciences. She has served in both local and central and private sectors. Mainly teaching agriculture sciences in secondary schools provided technical support to farmers towards increasing productivity and market linkages. In her professional life she has been part of the establishment of a database of farmers and other players in horticulture by preparing and conducting surveys in Northern Province of Rwanda. Prior to her master’s program in water resources management in Holland, she served as District Environmental Facilitator where she mainstreamed environmental issues in District Plans then after the program she worked as water harvesting officer at Rwanda Natural Resources Authority (now Rwanda Water Board) 2018 when she became the managing Director for a private company called “LAWICO” (Land and Water Interventions Company) a consultancy firm working in Agriculture, Water , Environment and Natural Resources management operating in Rwanda since 2016. Currently she is pursuing PhD studies in Hydrology and Climate studies at Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Arusha, Tanzania.
