Biography

Denisha Anand is a researcher and an intersectional environmentalist currently employed as the Biodiversity Project Manager of a 109ha wetland system in Cape Town, South Africa. A progressive environmental educator and advocate for restoration and rehabilitation of racially neglected biodiversity areas, she is completing a Masters in Environmental Anthropology in Multispecies Ethnography with a focus on intergenerational plant human practice and intimacies, at the University of the Western Cape. Denisha is also the Director of a company called Leaf Culture, where she manages various community centred projects that aims to cultivate economic empowerment, access to safe, clean natural spaces and promotes bio-cultural preservation. She currently serves on a section 80 mayoral advisory committee for Water Quality in Wetlands and Waterways, as a community conservation specialist in her country
