Bruce Gariseb

Development Planner

Biography

Bruce Gariseb is a Development Planner with an academic background in remote sensing and geographic information systems, serving the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry in Swakopmund, Namibia. He has over 8 years of work experience in land governance, tenure and advice. During his time in the government sector, Bruce worked on various rural development projects, including donor-funded initiatives such as the Programme for Communal Land Development (PCLD), serving as a technical expert on mapping and verification of land rights, managing spatial data for small-scale farming designated areas, and creating maps for livelihood alternatives. He currently serves as the Secretariat of the Erongo Communal Land Board, providing technical support to the board and traditional authorities in the Erongo Region regarding land disputes and illegal fencing matters, and the verification of communal land rights. 

Bruce is committed to continuing his personal and professional development. He is currently pursuing an Honours degree in Geo-information Technology at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). His research focuses on improving the accuracy of hand-held Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for customary land rights registration cadaster data in Daures Constituency, Erongo Region. He holds a Bachelors degree and a Diploma in Geo-information Technology from NUST.
