Mathonga Elizwe – Spirits of the Land chronicles the poignant stories of Black families still living under oppression on white-owned land in South Africa, the loss of ancestral lands, and the ongoing fight for its return. Join the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies and the EMS Land Research Niche at UWC for a free screening of the critically acclaimed film and panel discussion.

About the director:
Tsogo Kupa is an internationally award-winning documentary filmmaker and writer based in Johannesburg, South Africa. His graduation film, Sikelela Tapes, has screened at prestigious European, African, and American film festivals and won an award for editing at the VERS Film Festival in the Netherlands. He currently works as a Junior Editor & Director at Uhuru Productions and as a video essayist and contributing editor for Africa is a Country.
