Research Focus:

Land redistribution projects and wider impacts on poverty and inequality in South Africa

Biography:

Katlego Ramantsima joined PLAAS in June 2018. Prior to this appointment, Katlego worked as an Assistant Researcher for the Mining and Rural Transformation in Southern Africa (MARTISA) Project at the Society, Work and Politics Institute (SWOP), Wits University. She investigated issues about rural poverty and legally insecure systems of ‘customary’ tenure under the local administrative control of traditional authorities.
Her research interests lie in the fields of resource-based development, industrial relations, trade and industrial policy, communal land rights, land reform, political economy, urban regeneration and rural social change.

MCom in Development Theory and Policy, University of the Witwatersrand

BCom Honours in Development Theory and Policy,  University of the Witwatersrand

BA Sociology and International Relations, University of the Witwatersrand
